This type is sable in
origin, not in the Chinese brush style but Egyptian script. I believe the type
used for this packaging is Papyrus, which was inspired by Egyptian writing
found on papyrus paper. This is reflected in the design even down to the paper
it was produced on with gaps and notches cut out of each stroke and stem. The
sable look comes from the strokes, gentle tapering and casual flicks
(especially apparent on the arm of the F) overall it has a very classical feel
to it, historical, but only slightly, it mostly appears elegant, thin and
delicate, like a dancer on point, however there’s no fear that the glyphs will
‘fall over’ as their individual square shapes give them a good sense of
balance.
