OUGD404: Type Journal

Tetley Gallery: Original Brewery Display

Whilst browsing an exhibition at the Tetley Gallery I found this wonderful hops sack on display with some genuine wood block type printed on the front of it. The type itself is san serif and block origin, the strokes are of an even width with minimal details as known with wood printed type. The typeface on a whole is very tall and grand, despite it's detail it still connotes age and history through it's production medium. I would characterise this type as historic and tall, it also feels a little squarish on the counters and bowls giving it a formal feel not normally associated with san serif type.
