OUGD404: Type Journal

This type is very decorative and although it shows signs of script type with it’s flowing crossbars and arms, it feels to me to be of lead origin. I feel this because it looks incredibly similar to the decorative cast type that was popular throughout Europe in the late 1800’s. I feel it’s lead and not wood due to the amount of decorative detail crammed into each glyph; only lead could support this detail without damaging the printing block. It’s not too dissimilar to type used for circus posters and ‘entertainment’ posters with a fancy and extravagant character, it oozes expense being not just a type to read but also one with ornamental value.
