OUGD404: Type Journal

Wall Sticker Type

This serif type looks as though it should have origins in stone, however the messy quality to the strokes making it look like a dodgy print, it could possibly be lead, but due to the fact it's presented in the format of a vinyl wall sticker it could be either. (My best guess is stone because of the varying line thickness and the slightly tapered serifs.) The distorted edges of the type means it wouldn't fare well in body copy and works here as header/display text and it connotes incompleteness or old age/history. It feels like the letters started out clean and have been chewed and battered through time, this gives them the presence of history and authority without the overly formal tone behind it. The broken nature of the strokes makes it feel more personal, it is imperfect.
